Peggy (Margaret) Adams Parker

Sister Death from St. Francis' Canticle of the Sun

Comfort

Peggy Parker has been a parishioner at St Mary's for over 30 years, a working artist for almost 40 years, and an adjunct instructor at Virginia Seminary for 30. Her art often depicts religious and social justice themes.

Sister Death, in the final etching depicting St. Francis’ Canticle of the Sun, comes as a comforting and consoling presence: a reminder that God’s love surrounds us even in the face of suffering and wrenching loss, and that death truly does not have the last word.
